The Oak Grove School had a couple of teams competing in the state LEGO Robotics Competition this month.
The “N.A.S.A. (Nerds Are Super Awesome!),” team of boys did very well. They had a strong performance in Core Values, and did solidly on Robot Design. They did a nice job on their project presentation. Their table scores were very respectable. They effectively used their practice table time to improve after each run and their highest score was their last run. They had a fun, but exhausting, day. They didn’t win any major awards but the experience was worthwhile for all.
The Fin-tastic Fish team had an amazing day. Their three robot performances went extremely well for them – they reached their goals of everyone getting a chance to participate, and their robot performed incredibly well by completing all 10 missions they had programmed. The fish team won the state CORE Values Champions Award. This was one of the four individual category winners. There were about 60 teams that competed. There were 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place overall tournament award winners of which the 1st place winners will move on to the World Championships. The fish team missed going to the World Championship by 3 places, but had an outstanding day and are very proud of their accomplishments.
We are proud of all our LEGO Robotics teams! Thanks for representing us!
